Who is your favorite character?

Post by Christina Rose »

Victor Rose did a great job properly developing his characters. The backstories provided should allow the reader to make a connection with at least some of these unique characters. Did you have a favorite? If so, who? What factors and characteristics made this particular character your favorite?

My favorite character was Brimstone. He is the underdog and he kind of reminds me of Harry Potter. The backstories were much needed. Without them, I would feel completely lost.

@Mercy Bolo - Each member of Crimson has his or her own appeal, but I do think Brimstone’s character stood out a bit more. He definitely started out as the underdog. Even after he rose to mage-status, he still had inner and outer battles to fight. Harry Potter is a great character to compare him with; they really do share some similarities. I agree, the backstories were essential. The author weaved those into the story very well.

Brimstone also did it for me. His character was well developed and I liked the way his rise to mage was portrayed.

@Barbiedole - The author did a great job with his rise to mage, I agree. I cringed as the fire got hotter during the trial, which says a lot about the author’s ability to vividly describe pivotal moments.

I'm going to go ahead and avoid the obvious choice. Even though Brimstone was set up to be everyone's favorite, actually liked Brick. His character wasn't explored as much as the others, which made me more interested in learning more about him. I hope the author explores more of him in the next book.

I really like stories which incorporate an underdog character, so for me, it would definitely be Brimstone /Leaf

Brick’s character is an essential one, even though it was not explored as much in this book. I hope to learn more about him in the next book, as well.

I agree that there's nothing like a good underdog story!

Yes I'd say Brick too. He may have been in the background but his character played a crucial role in the story.
