I'm unsure about their lengths but some great ones are:
To kill a mockingbird by Harper Lee
The catcher in the rye by J.D Salinger
Lord of the flies by William Golding
Animal Farm by George Orwell

I like everyone's suggestions so far. I love anything by Tolkein so, The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy (individually I don't think these books are lengthy), etc. Or anything by C.S. Lewis so The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. Brave New World isn't too long, Lord of the Flies is great, and if you love mystery And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie is incredible!

I think Macbeth is short, and the Scarlet Letter is also relatively short.

Treasure Island
The Great Gatsby
Of Mice and Men
Alice in Wonderland
Animal Farm
1984
Little House on the Prairie (335 pages) - not as short, but still a classic read

The Yellow Wallpaper is pretty short and sweet (the plot isn't sweet, but, you know)

There's also "1984" by George Orwell.

Hope this helps. If I think of others, I'll post again.
I rarely ever hear people recommend or talk about 'The Peal' but I thought it was a fantastically written book and would also recommend reading it!

The first book that comes to mind is A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett. I read it a few years ago and found it easy to understand and very fun to read. I recommend it 100%!

Oedipus Rex by Sophocles. Ah, that play is one hell of a tragedy!
