I've never seen or heard of it in real life. Magazines, newspapers, and phone books, yes. But never books-books. It might sound ridiculous, but I think I would be beyond feelings. Not just because it's so disrespectful, but because I feel like there is something like a soul in a book. It's all that time, energy, and vulnerability that someone has put into creating something that you actually experience. A book is a very intimate thing. I don't know how I'd react if the people burning the books didn't understand that what they were doing was wrong, that they were being much more than a simple nuisance.

Anyone who would burn a book should get the same treatment. Jokes aside, if it is a badly written book though...

Same! Like, why would someone do that??! Fortunately, I've never seen anyone do this IRL.

I've never seen something like it in real life. Sometimes I saw people burning old newspapers, but I never saw someone burn books. Tyrants and religious fanatics really burned books in the old days. In my opinion, they were real monsters.

I feel pity for them. Burning books is like No souls at all. It is an essential part of our daily lives, whatever book is it as long as it can make people inspire or learn from it well it must be taken good care of. For the generation's to come. So that from your children's children's will benefit from it. Reading books makes my day complete & broaden my wisdom in life. reading everyday is good for you. So please don't burn books.

I feel very sad for the author as well as for those doing so. It is painful to see anyone burning a book.

It’s kind of pointless to burn books now, since most have digital copies. So if people want to burn them, go for it. But it won’t stop anyone from reading the book they are trying to burn if that person really wants to read it.

Heart attack!!! If the book was beyond all salvage ?However I feel that it's one of those things that you shouldn't do, just out of respect, all the way around.
The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. 2 Peter 3:9 :angelic-grayflying:

I would be extremely surprised for one thing. I've also never seen someone burn a book, but I couldn't understand why you would. Burning that one copy wouldn't destroy the hundreds of others that exist, and if you need fire starer get a newspaper! Or maybe some people just really don't care, I don't know. But I just wouldn't ever see a need for it.

I've never seen it, but unless it was Mein Kampf or something, I'd be horrified!

I have never seen someone actually burn a book. Once a scene in a drama series where they tell about publishing houses scraping books for sake of business and it was a sad sight. Burning them feels horrendous even to imagine, poor sweet creatures, unless they are absolute piece of trash but i haven't seen any such book yet.

If I ever witnessed a book burning, I'd be upset, just thinking of how much time and effort was spent into writing and crafting those books. It's disrespectful and wasteful.

My reaction will depend on their motive and the type of book they're burning.
