Freedom Novus by Mark Van Roosendaal is a political science-fictional novel. The book details humanity’s first search for life within its solar system, the discoveries which led to the development of smaller colonies, and human resilience in maintaining those colonies. The author gives insight into the hypocrisy of the government and the ill-treatment of citizens. This action results in a revolution that ensued between inhabitants of the earth. The revolution was aimed at combating the dictatorship, bureaucratic oversight, and socialist doctrines promulgated by officials in government in their bid to usurp power.

Mark Van Roosendaal’s Freedom Novus is a story of a revolutionist leader, President Joseph Harkins, who seeks independence from the earth to govern another planet, Freedom. He intends to form a coalition with Nathan Rigby to achieve this task but met resistance. Space colonization was seen as a chance for a better, simpler life, but the earth had to take some precautions. The inhabitant of the planet had to colonize and dominate Freedom and other colonies, even if it meant them operating at a loss. Freedom was a prized jewel, and this was because indigenous life, liquid waters, and breathable air were discovered in it. It was breathtaking to read about characters like Captain Frank Diaz, Commander Balwan Anagha, Angelo Mendez, Admiral Reese, Mandee Johnson, and Megan Jackson and their roles in this quest.

Freedom Novus is a remarkable novel. It focused on the betrayal, bribery, nepotism, and manipulation that exist in most governments of today and the necessities of universal human rights. It shows that the control of the military and social group is essential and further gave insightful details on the economic and technological advancement of the aliens. It was mesmerizing from the first sentence and educative till the last sentence. The amount of research on minerals found in mining fields in other planets is incredible, more like the blockbuster series, Star Wars. The female characters were all intense and amazing.

This novel would have been a captivating read if the author worked on the monotony of narration and exposition. I also feel like there is a need for character development and proper execution of the vision. I believe it needs a more glamorous finish.

I discovered a few grammatical errors in this book, although it did not affect the free flow of the book. Therefore, I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. I recommend this book to anyone who desires a guide into the political world. Also to anyone who loves reading amazing classical books on aliens, technology, and politics.

I am never intrigued by politics or anything that is politically inclined. However, this book looks like a good read, so I'll introduce it to a friend I know will be interested.

This book addresses our current political activities and gives us strength to stand for freedom in this generation where we think we are free but are slaves to either the government or a person higher than us. Good review.

Seems a thought-provoking story burdened by and excess of exposition. I'll keep an eye on this series hoping that the sequels will flow better. Thank you for your informative review!
