I came across this book at Amazon a couple hours ago and rejected it. It sounded like a plain romance and they are often written without much depth of character. But I accidentally stumbled on your review and after reading it I am thinking I was too hasty in my judgment.
Thanks for the recommendation and a review worthy of the book it's analysing. (And then some)
Sincerely, LLR
"You are worthy to take the book,
and to open its to seals,
for You were slain and have redeemed us to God,
by your blood, out of every tribe and tongue and people and Nation." Rev. 5:9

It really captured my attention and my heart. Thanks for your comment!Nisha Ward wrote: ↑29 Nov 2019, 18:18 This reminds me of stuff like Begin Again but with a sad twist. Still, it sounds like a beautiful read imbued with the power of music.

I am also hesitant to choose books with alternating narrators, but this one did not disappoint! Thanks for your comment.Mallory Whitaker wrote: ↑01 Dec 2019, 02:39 This sounds like an engaging and beautiful book. I can be iffy on books that flip-flop between narrators, but that's only because I think it's a difficult art for authors to master, and they aren't always done well. It sounds like that's not the case here. I'm definitely adding this one to my list. Thanks for the great review!

I am glad that my review helped change your mind; this book is beautifully written! Thanks for your comment.LauraLeeWasHere wrote: ↑01 Dec 2019, 02:58 You certainly didn't have to tell us that you spent a long time "digesting" this book because it is very evident from your review. You have a wisdom regarding the characters that is quite rare.

You're pretty much describing me.Readers who are fans of character-driven stories will fall in love with Mike and Sarah. If you possess a strong passion for the arts, this book should be on your list!
I love the way you depicted the powerful characters and how even supporting ones (and dead ones, for that matter) like Grandma Mae are beautifully developed.
It seems like a must-read for me!
Thank you for your enthusiastic review!
