Blood or bile
rusted and darkened, breaking at the seams.
The feeling is familiar, but within the grooves,
running my fingers along a well-known plane,
I become lost, confused;
naked and unprepared against the differences.
But I submerge deeper, same eyes, same mouth, same voice;
age-old antiquities that are invaluable to me.
But silver tongue, soft spoken, words pour into my ears.
the bombardment insistent;
the quiet things that no one knows float to the surface.
With hearts, beating blood or bile, never both.
Piano key teeth bit the bullet and shattered the melody
that was keeping her on her toes; watching from a distance,
into oceanic eyes, counting everything breath with ignominy.
Staring up at the ashen sky waiting for rain to wash her away;
she crawled to the sea.

One feels like a duck, splashing around in all this wet. And when one feels like a duck, one is happy!
