Yes when the false king showed up for revenge it threw me off. I think I literally shook my head like okay where are you coming from all of a sudden?!Tomah wrote: ↑01 Sep 2019, 14:11 I vote for the Fate Sealers as well since they're a looming presence throughout the book. The thing about surprise villains is that we might not get a chance to really feel invested in them as villains, so the final confrontation doesn't feel as compelling. I disliked the false king for similar reasons: he only shows up at the very end to be defeated.

So does that make the false king the best/worst villian!?Ferdinand_otieno wrote: ↑07 Sep 2019, 14:52But the Fate Sealers followed the False King's commands.

That would make him more dangerous than the fate sealers as an antagonist.Kro92813 wrote: ↑10 Sep 2019, 20:15So does that make the false king the best/worst villian!?Ferdinand_otieno wrote: ↑07 Sep 2019, 14:52But the Fate Sealers followed the False King's commands.

The Villain in the shadows worked perfectly for Victor Valorian.Nisha Ward wrote: ↑11 Sep 2019, 03:12 A lot of folks here say the Fate Sealers but I think Victor Valerian is the worst. He was able to orchestrate the entire thing without being caught until the end and then hr had the whole creepy charming thing going for him.

He False King was able to kill the king, trick the successor (his elder brother) into creating a law that led to his execution, and gain control of Echoland and Fate Sealers.Kro92813 wrote: ↑10 Sep 2019, 20:15So does that make the false king the best/worst villian!?Ferdinand_otieno wrote: ↑07 Sep 2019, 14:52But the Fate Sealers followed the False King's commands.

Fate Sealers either wanted to scare the opharnage kids straight or end children just for the fun of it.sarahmarlowe wrote: ↑03 Sep 2019, 14:26

Fate Sealers were interesting antagonists, but they were essentially puppets to the False King and even at times Victor Valorian who presented a greater threat.Tomah wrote: ↑01 Sep 2019, 14:11 I vote for the Fate Sealers as well since they're a looming presence throughout the book. I would also select Fate Sealers as the best antagonist were they not following the False King's commands. The False King would be my selection for better villain than them.Sana Rabbani wrote: ↑09 Sep 2019, 10:28 I vote for the Fate Sealers because they actually make the best antagonists. They were absolutely savage throughout the book.

I agree that the prize goes to the false King. His appearance inside the nurse was a jolt. I kept waiting for him to show up with a goblin army or something.Ferdinand_otieno wrote: ↑02 Sep 2019, 12:26I think the False King is the worst. He killed the King , lost his hand to his brother then devised a way for that brother to create a rule that led to his downfall-Diabolical is an understatement.

The False King was a conniving Villain willing to take their time in order to capture Will when he was most vulnerable.djr6090 wrote: ↑18 Sep 2019, 08:38I agree that the prize goes to the false King. I think it makes him a bit of both. The False King has attributes making him the best and worst villain.Kro92813 wrote: ↑10 Sep 2019, 20:15So does that make the false king the best/worst villian!?Ferdinand_otieno wrote: ↑07 Sep 2019, 14:52But the Fate Sealers followed the False King's commands.

Victor Valorian had a hand in planning most if not all the antagonistic events before and after Will got to Echoland. His charm if anything, makes him highly dangerous.Nisha Ward wrote: ↑11 Sep 2019, 03:12 A lot of folks here say the Fate Sealers but I think Victor Valerian is the worst. Their activities in the opharnage are what terrify me most about them. Will was always looking over his shoulder and it was always dangerous to stray far from others...and sometimes it wasn't even safe in a crowd.sarahmarlowe wrote: ↑03 Sep 2019, 14:26

That was my perception of the Fate Sealers the entire time I read the book. Even the depictions make them out to be like Dementors. it was one of the things that makes them terrifying antagonists/villains in this story.
