Great review, I particularly loved how you pointed out how the book was structured, using passages from another book as headers for each section. The first time I saw this done was with Marilyn Manson's autobiography The Long Hard Road Out of Hell, in which he structures each new section of the book off of Dante's Divine Comedy

This sounds like a really interesting book from the way that you review it! I'm not normally into historical fiction like this, and I try to stay away from anything predating the 1800's, but you actually make it sound appealing. Thanks for the review, and definitely adding it to the want to read shelf on here!

The original writings at the beginning of each chapter go a long way towards enhancing the fictional parts of the story. This is a unique and intriguing structure. I enjoyed your review. Great job!

Thank you for this review! I enjoy historical fiction, but this is about a historical figure I know nothing about. Adding it to my TBR, and looking forward to reading it.

I'd heard of this book but was having difficulty finding an honest review of it. Something that goes beyond the basic "it' so wonderful" book cover "review". Thanks for your input and info.
Sincerely, Laura-Lee

This book seems to be well structured. A book exploring the times of Frederick II. Thanks for the review.

I don’t normally like historical fiction but this sounds good.

This sounds like a wonderful historical fiction novel! I especially like that the author included excerpts from a falconry book. That brings in another level of history to connect readers to the story. Wonderful review!

It does sound like a clever book, based on your descriptions. One thing I do enjoy about historical fiction is being able to relate to characters from a different place and time, so I like that you highlighted that aspect of the book as well 👍👍👍👍

Great Review. You stated that you were surprised how little the celebration changed since medieval times. How do you know that? Is there something in the book, or have you been to a festival?
