Why aren’t more women in leadership positions? Why has the United States never had a female president? Not a single woman can be found among the 25 richest self-made billionaires according to Business Insider. When you have conversations with people, everybody recognizes that female participation and empowerment are essential to progress. However, for some reason, there is much progress to be made in order to create a fairer society. There are many possible explanations for that: unconscious bias, lack of female role models, prevailing gender stereotypes, and so forth.

This 127-page book written by Dominica Lumazar answers all those burning questions that few are brave enough to investigate. She is the living proof of how vital it is for everyone to trust in our value and self-worth in order to achieve our limitless potential and accomplish our dreams. Here are few examples of obstacles she had to overcome: school problems, a serious car accident, memory loss, prejudice towards women in powerful roles and a fake company disappearing with her hard-earned money.

Lumazar displays a deep knowledge of business-related topics from the first page to the last. Her didactic qualities are really impressive. Don't get me wrong, you won't find boring stuff like the EBITDA formula or complicated equations. Empowered is just like How to Win Friends and Influence People written by Dale Carnegie for business owners. That's what I liked the most about it.

That’s not to say that the book is flawless. It isn’t. I believe that Dominica Lumazar should have added a bit more content into the book. It’s perfectly possible to open a business following her advice. Don’t get me wrong. The reader will benefit if he follows the guidelines, but a business book has to teach you something you would learn at an MBA course. That's what I disliked the most about this book.

All in all, Empowered written by Dominica Lumazar deserves 4 out of 4 stars. I found no grammatical errors in this book. It's professionally edited. This well-written book is worthy of a place on the bookshelves of business leaders, especially people interested in opening their own business. It's not super deep or technical, but there's a great deal of everlasting wisdom contained within these pages. I cannot take a star away because I don't think there was any relevant flaw to report. I would recommend Empowered to anyone who has an interest in business-related matters. It contains many valuable insights that not only can be used in business, but also in everyday life.

What if I find the EBITDA formula fascinating? (This is what happens when someone with an MBA is married to a person with a math degree.) But seriously, this is a solid review. I like your perspective on the challenges that author has overcome along with the greater social implications of her achievements. I also like that you recognize that a person is not likely to be able to start a successful business based solely on what is taught in this book.
Great review.

Great review.
I agree with you. The EBITDA formula gives the investors good idea of how the company is doing financially. It can be also useful to compare companies from different countries. It's pretty boring, though. :lol2: :lol2:
Just kidding, esp1975. Thanks for your great feedback. :tiphat:

I've seen a few reviews of this one but yours is the first to highlight the gender aspects, which makes the book sound interesting. Thanks for an excellent review.
This post was brought to you by the word "specifically".

I agree with the author that its about time a female president was elected in US. There is no reason why this shouldn't happen, especially as you put it women believed in their values and self-worth. Thanks for the thorough review.

You are totally right. It won't happen in the next election, though. Sad but true.

This is an alluring viewpoint. It seems that Dominica's life experience lead her to some constructive lessons regarding businesses. I loved how you highlighted the book's features adding a firm inflection. Thanks for the recommendation!
