I love writing while listening to music!
My favourite method is to YouTube fantasy adventure music or listen to asmr's of certain environments in which my scenes take place.

The only music that helps me write is music in 432 hz. It's super relaxing but not so relaxing that it puts you to sleep.

Music actually distracts me from my thoughts. Occasionally, music will inspire me with an idea when I have writer's block.

Depends on what genre I'm writing at the moment. I tend to listen to instrumentals that match the environment or emotion I'm trying to convey. Say heavy metal for a grand and intense action scene or soft strings as a character reminisces. But I have difficulty writing while listening to lyrics, because then I just want to sing along!

Yes, definitely. Especially Celtic music. It helps me to escape to whichever mythical realm I'm writing about.

It depends on the kind of situation I'm in or what I'm writing at the moment. Most of the time I like quietness. Silence helps me to set the mood for writing. -R

Music definitely helps me write. I can either use it as background music while writing a scene or use the lyrics themselves for inspiration.

too me it all depends on the mood. when i feel happy and mentally stimulated i listen to energetic music analogous to what i feel. when i feel sad and depressed well its the same too as well on what you feel.

that's ok all genre and styles of music are acceptable as long as it empowers you. in Japan and somewhere in Europe there is this music which is nothing but pure noise. I hardly comprehend this one.

It depends on the mood really.

Sometimes it's the quiet that inspires, but sometimes when there's too much noice in my head I listen to even louder tunes to quiet my mind a notch. It can be classical, rock, metal, R&B, jazz, folk, you name it. That releases the pressure off of my thinking and I can get the writing done.

IF you want to listen to music at the same time as writing, select track with out words or ambient noise, for instance, the sound of water. Almost every examine that I checked out determined that track with lyrics hindered concentration and productivity. However, one study showed that low degree ambient noise can enhance creativity.
