I found this book to be intriguing. I think all of us can relate to feeling like we don't belong, and that sometimes we are intimidated into doing things that we do not want to. But sometimes fear is a good thing, and pushing through it gives us strength and powers we never realized we had. Great read.

I don't know why you said some parts of the book might seem "silly" or "lame," because I feel this book is not at all one of those two to the right readers. Instead,the plot sounds absolutely magical,not only because of a new fantasy world,because of the magic Karina feels in her own life and spreads for others. This book sounds like it is a good supernatural story but I wish the review didn't give so much away about her powers. I will have to wait on the story it feels, after what the review gave away. But it does sound like a good book.
