Books are a really good gift especially if the person likes the author. If I give them as a gift I first inquire about the person's taste.

I ask for certain books for Christmas or my birthday. I won’t gift books because I wouldn’t know what genre they like, if they have the book or have already read it & didn’t like it. I think for holidays or for someone’s birthday it should be a surprise. If they ask me to get it for a holiday/birthday then I wouldn’t mind getting it cause obviously they really want it.

The best gifts are when people give you their favourite book! My friends and I also have given up on traditional gifts and only give books (then share them around the group!) :)

I prefer gift cards to bookstores over actual books largely because I have so many already. I am likely to get a duplicate!

I love books as gifts! Especially if it's a surprise. I just figure it means a lot when someone sees or reads a book and thinks of you. I also love giving books to the younger ones in my life because I want to encourage their love of reading.

Yes, I do give books as gifts, especially to children. I'm always giving books to my two nephews. My goal is to help them develop a reading habit, which I think is soooooo important in life. I also give books as birthday gifts to my friends and family.

I love getting books as gifts! Even better is getting a gift card to amazon or the book store so that I can pick out my own books. :)

TO me, the only thing exciting about my birthday(and any holiday to be honest) is I get Kindle gift cards.

I love getting books and gift cards to buy books! When I'm looking for gifts for other people, I try to find books specific to the person's interest. Most of my family likes books of some sort so I challenge myself to find just the right book for each person.

Unless I have a specific book in mind, I’m more apt to give them a gift card so they can go through the joy of going to a book store and finding the perfect book.

I do like to give people a list of books I want but I usually end up getting a gift card as well😅
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride!” HST

You would ahve to KNOW they didnt have, or hadnt read, whatever book you're gifting. I love getting books, but gift receipts are nice...just in case.

It depends on the recipient. My wife loves books, therefore books as gifts to her are the bomb.
