Religion vs Romance

Post by ChrissieLeigh »

What are your thoughts on how Suzanne and Cody were able to bring themselves to make love while they were unwed even though Cody seemed to be strict on his Catholic beliefs? It also kind of threw me off that after their divine help (the light that led them out of the mountains) that they made love. Today that would not seem like as big of a deal, but I wonder if it would have in the 1860's. Cody seemed to struggle with the fact that he kissed, what he thought was a married woman, but it was ok to make love out of wedlock. But then he did visit the brothel.
