This looks like a great discussion. One question--isn't the author of Gone Girl Gillian Flynn?

The books I'll be reading are: 'The Color Purple' by Alice Walker, 'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof' by Tennessee Williams and 'Lolita' by Vladimir Nabokov.

My first post! How fun :)
I love the Pride and Prejudice BBC version of 1995 with Colin Firth :)
I teach, so I've watched some movies such as Bridge to Terabithia that I found very good, too!

Congrats on your first post, JuliaDaniels :). I hope you enjoy this site! It's so much fun!

I am currently reading The Giver and To Kill a Mockingbird (which I didn't realize the latter was made into a movie until recently).

I'm almost finished The Lady in the Van before I see the movie ... Maggie Smith should be awesome

Maggie Smith is one of my favorite actresses of all time. Top of the list would probably be Vanessa Redgrave but Maggie is not far behind.

Maggie Smith is one of my favorite actors as well.
This is an interesting thing to come up as one of my choices for this month is The Secret Garden.

Walter Sparrow was also one of my favorites.

"The Secret Garden" is one of my favorites books. I have read it in my childhood many times. Enjoy! :)

I like some of the classics such as from Jane Austen/Charles Dickens, however I think there's always something lost with a movie if you read the book first no matter what it is.

I love it when I find a movie and love it, then realize it is a book. I would rather watch the movie then read the book, rather than the other way around. The Chronicles of Narnia was another one, as well as A Wrinkle In Time

I'm the same way @lauraforever. Usually the book is so good, the movie just can't compare :) I chose One For the Money by Janet Evanovich. Luckily, both the movie and book compare pretty equally :)

Nicholas Sparks. How can you forget him? Almost all his books are made into movies

Aww...Nicholas Sparks...I've been meaning to re-read A Walk to Remember. I love both the book and the movie, even with their differences.
