I'm having a hard time deciding what I want to read for this, which is odd as I don't typically read historical. And what's even more frustrating is that there's little agreement about what's historical, and what's not. Darn Google

@GraveRobber, a general rule of thumb we use in libraries is 50 years in the past, but we won't get too technical. :)

My problem right now is too many to choose from. Not a problem I thought I'd have with historical :shhh:

I'm currently leaning towards either The Danish Girl by David Ebershoff, or Pirate Latitudes by Michael Crichton.

That could always change though :shifty:

Pirate Latitudes looks like fun. I've been reading so many HF dealing with Europe, I thought a change would be good; so I loaded my Nook with a novel about the South Seas Islands. Samoa-A Historical Novel by J. Robert Shaffer. I can't recommend it as I don't know anything about the author nor this book - another shot in the dark.

Is this still open for voting? And if so, how do you vote? Sorry for a dumb question but I'm really new to this forum (and to participating in forums in general). Thanks!

I'm feeling {Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen} as I was just saying the other day.. "I don't feel like I have read enough of the classics." No time like the Present.

I am in love with historical fiction. Especially based in the 1800s. It is by far my favorite time period to read fiction in.
