Youre So Vain. I always liked that song. Ive got it by Linda Ronstadt. The story is that it was written about Warren Beatty.

I just heard another rendition of Are You Lonesome Tonight by Al Jolson. It was every bit as good or better than Elvis. Especially the recitation part. Jolson put a lot more emotion into it.

Third favorite, altho I havent heard it for a while is Theres a Star-Spangled Banner Waving Somewhere by Elton Britt.

Rhapsody in Blue, thats one cool piece. Also Suzy Q is one of one of my favorites.

I listened to the Richard Rodgers Victory at Sea soundtrack last night while I was reading, thats got to be one of the best soundtrack scores ever written. Part of it has the sound effects, planes and bombs and the shouting "General quarters, general quarters," that sort of thing, but even with that its still awesome music. I wish I had the original, it was something like 13 hours long.

Thats cool music, thats for sure.

I havent listened to much today, I listened to some Duke Ellington while I was cleaning the fridge. Some of his Okeh recordings. Black and Tan Fantasy, Beggars Blues, Hophead, Doin the Voom-Voom and one of my favorites, Misty Morning with its kick-ass guitar solo.

I heard another one I got a kick out of, Animal Crackers. Comical song by Ben Bernie I think, but not sure.

I heard some by the Jimmie Lunceford Band the other day. He had a swing band in the 40's. Three that impressed me were Smoke gets in Your Eyes, Annie Laurie and Blues in the Night. Great slow mellow numbers, but he did some far out hot jitterbug numbers too.

I've been listening to a lot of neo-80s/new wave stuff, so I'd have to go with Tesla Boy, Cut Copy and Bruce Cockburn.

I love Smoke get in Your Eyes - for some reason it always reminds me of Knights in White Satin.

I heard three nice ones earlier, real oldies but nice sounding tunes. Im Confessin, Goodnight Sweetheart, and Guilty by Phil Spitalny and his All-Girl Orchestra.
