Playing Blasting Music with headset while reading: Good or Bad?

This is the place for readers of poetry. Discuss poetry and literary art. You can also discuss music here, including lyrics. Also, you can discuss poets themselves, in addition to poetry.

I really can’t stand listening to music while reading a book. It will distract me and miscomprehend the context of what I’m reading.

I felt it strange so I asked her about it. This was her reply,
"I don't know. I just understand better that way"

Now I don't know what else to say to her. Is plugging an earphone/headset in your ears while reading good or bad?
It's the same for me. Before reading, I plug in my headset, turn on some music and start reading. It helps me concentrate more.

Although it is not advisable medically to blast very loud music into your ears, I can't necessarily say it is bad for reading. It is relative to preference.

It is funny that you mention that because I am doing that right now.

It really depends on an individual. Personally, I cannot read with music on, leave alone blasting music on headphones.

It all depends on us. Sometimes most or some of us would honestly prefer playing music while reading or studying. It would be best to assess ourselves with which we are comfortable and convenient with.

It is a personal thing. Some people study better with blasting music, some low tone music but for me, I don't need music at all. I lose concentration easily so anything like music that might distract me while studying is a no case

I’m sorry but it’s really not my cup of tea. Listening to music while listening hampered my retention and attention to what I’m reading. I simply cannot but we all have different choices in life.

Playing blasting music while reading is bad. This will not help you focus on reading but instead you will be confused on what you are reading. Also, this would cause you to have irritation on your ears and will have problem on your thinking skills.

I used to play a music while reading but a serene one, not a blasting music. Usually listening to blasting music distracts me from reading.
