Mine is the "African vanity"
It talks about how the Africans goes out to study abroad and then when they return they totally forget their culture and rather adopt the culture of the country they are coming from.

I love Edgar Allen Poe's hauntingly romantic prose. "The Raven" and "Annabelle Lee" are, of course, at the top of my list. But, it is some of his lesser known poems that are of a more macabre nature, and leave the reader thoroughly spellbound.

That's a good one :)

I really like "Love Is Not All," by Edna St. Vincent Millay.

Also a lot by Lucille Clifton-- "I Am Accused of Tending to the Past," and a lesser-known one called "For the Mad." Honestly, I just really love Lucille Clifton.

My favourite poem is called "the burial of love"I feel like the poet wasn't afraid to show how broken he felt at the moment. The poet really pulls the audience to feel what he was feeling when he was writing the poem. I feel like many people can relate to it because at one point or another everybody has felt like they have given more live tjan they get hence the love comes back to them void.

Tomatoes by Shane Coyczan

He's a spoken out loud poet, you can find tomatoes on youtube and it's absolutely amazing. Would definitely recommend listening to it.

The Bustle in a House
BY EMILY DICKINSON
The Bustle in a House
The Morning after Death
Is solemnest of industries
Enacted opon Earth –

The Sweeping up the Heart
And putting Love away
We shall not want to use again
Until Eternity –

This poem captures perfectly for me the depth of sorrow and compartmentalization that occurs when someone you love dies. The sorrow feels overwhelming and permanent. It can be hard to move past that to do the day-to-day things that life requires. And it can be hard to think that someday you will be able to love again, depending on who it was who died, of course, and their relationship to you. It can feel like life is over --- but life persists.

My favorite poem is All Things Bright and Beautiful. The first poem I have ever memorized..until I get this age, if I am reminded of that song, it helps me a lot specially in tough times.

Seems as if every couple of months I find a new poem to hold close.

How to choose right? From Rumi, Dickenson, Scott, Billy Collins, Angeolu, the list goes on.

Well, this month the poem is from AVA, Page 61 of her book you are safe here.

"how beautiful you are
for never giving up on yourself,
for just waking up
and choosing to get out of bed.

seeing you own your life
and be willing to face it
over and over again
is so powerful,
you make me believe
anything is possible.

you make me believe
in heroes again."

Thank you for allowing me to share.
Peace
Trina

I don't have a favorite poem. There are so many beautiful poems, that it is unjust to just choose one.
The poem that really struck me recently is by Nayyirah Waheed, one of the most brilliant poets of our time - in my opinion. I love it so much, that I put it as my signature, as you see down below:

“there have been so many times
i have seen a man wanting to weep
but
instead
beat his heart until it was unconscious.

-masculine”

It explains the way that men hide their feelings, by forcing it into submission.
I think it perfectly describes what happens when men feel emotions, and its a sad reality that society does not allow them to express themselves in this perfectly natural way.

“there have been so many times
i have seen a man wanting to weep
but
instead
beat his heart until it was unconscious.

-masculine”

The Raven, by Edgar Allan Poe.

I just love the building and feeling it gives overall, loved even more when Poe explained the thought process in the construction of it.
