In My Fever - a Poem

Post by GReGCa »

sick I spread my arms and await

I wish I could sink through the floor

I wish I could be impaled on the post

the wind outside rattles the branch

against the window

tossing in my fever

I still dream of her

and what I would do

my arms embrace nothing

I turn over and over

cough violently

rattle of the branch against the window again

the floor is so cold

it gleams

I see lights in the ceiling

the lamp beside the bed is yellow

the table is a rich dark-brown

the book upon it is unread

and somewhere in what seems like another world

someone is having sex....
