What are some of your favorite poets/poetry books?

This is the place for readers of poetry. Discuss poetry and literary art. You can also discuss music here, including lyrics. Also, you can discuss poets themselves, in addition to poetry.

I recently discovered Sarah Morrish via Amazon. Seems like a newbie but I've liked what I've read so far. Similar vein to Rupi Kaur and Sylvia Plath, perhaps.

R.E. more established poets: I enjoy Robert Browning, Elizabeth Bishop and Louis Aragon. The latter is especially interesting for his connection to the Surrealist movement. Makes for an interesting read!

I read Dante in college. The Inferno was a description of hell and types of people that would be there. Examples were gossips, glutinous people, liers, more in the circle were drunkards and whormongers. Yuck. Not my type of people.

I guess it depends what you are looking for. Rupi Kaur is an interesting modern poet. Maya Angelou has some fabulous and empowering poems. I also love Pablo Neruda and Dylan Thomas.

One of my favorite female poets is Maggie Nelson. She is genre bending and her work is non-traditional. My favorite book by her is called "Bluets" - a beautiful, emotional piece on the color blue. How a person can write an entire, amazing book on a color is beyond me, but it truly touches my soul. It's not a feel-good, happy collection, but if you're looking for something deep and sad, it is perfect. I have read it several times and it is relatively easy to get through. I would highly recommend!

I really enjoyed the book “The Princess saves herself in this book,” which is kinda similar to Milk and Honey.

Keats is my favourite poet.
"Beauty is truth and truth is beauty",and"A thing of beauty is joy forever".
He left his medical field and chose to be a poet .He believed his name would be among great English poets. It happened like that within the next three years. His early death ,at the age of 25 is a great blow for the English Literature.

There are lots of really good suggestions for new poetry to try out. I have never been huge into poetry but I would love find a niche that I really enjoy!

I'd suggest Byron, Shakespeare's sonnets, Shelley... And also, Pushkin, Lermontov, Yesenin, Mayakovsky...
A good site to look up poetry might be the Poetry Foundation site - just Google it, you can't miss it! :)

Nikita Gill is always a good choice, and I'll take Pablo Neruda any day. Also, the poetry power couple of Lang Leav and Michael Faudet.
