Use underlining, italics, or quotation marks for titles?

Some grammar rules (and embarrassing mistakes!) transcend the uniqueness of different regions and style guides. This new International Grammar section by OnlineBookClub.org ultimately identifies those rules thus providing a simple, flexible rule-set, respecting the differences between regions and style guides. You can feel free to ask general questions about spelling and grammar. You can also provide example sentences for other members to proofread and inform you of any grammar mistakes.

Thanks for style, it was helpful to read this requirement for reviews as I have only done one and it was a complete mess as I completed it without reading the Team's guidlines. Will not make that mistake in my next review. Thanks.

Thank you. so how do we know when to underline the title of the book and how do we know when to put it in quotations? If it is an actual stand-alone book such as a novel that we are reviewing?

Thank you. How do we know when to underline the title of the book and how do we know when to put it in quotations? If it is an actual stand-alone book such as a novel that we are reviewing it's always italicize?

Oh, amybo32 answered my question. Understand.

However, if we are summarizing something and using an introduction in summary we are able to underline the word introduction in summary according to zeldas_lullaby.

I didn't know about quotation marks on works within a collection. eg, when naming one specific story that is within a collection of short stories. That specific story should be in quotation marks, right?Thank you for this eye-opener.

What about when you are listing multiple titles from a short story collection in a single sentence? Here is a hypothetical example:

1) My favorite stories were, "chapter one," "chapter five," and "chapter nine."
2) My favorite stories were, "chapter one, chapter five, and chapter nine."

Are both examples correct? Or, only example 1 is correct and example 2 is wrong.
