Is This An Error?

Some grammar rules (and embarrassing mistakes!) transcend the uniqueness of different regions and style guides. This new International Grammar section by OnlineBookClub.org ultimately identifies those rules thus providing a simple, flexible rule-set, respecting the differences between regions and style guides. You can feel free to ask general questions about spelling and grammar. You can also provide example sentences for other members to proofread and inform you of any grammar mistakes.

Is This An Error?

Post by The Holy Grail »

After they met, the realization that there was strong chemistry between them hit her squarely on her face, something that sharply conflicted her firm, cynical views about relationships.

Must there be "with" after "conflicted"? I feel the sentence is correct in its original context but I don't know how to explain it.

It is a small error that does not affect the legibility of the sentence but it would be better to write "conflicted with."

Hi there! No. I would not count it as error, and I would not add "with."

Hi there, no “with” needed there, the sentence is fine as is.

Yes, I agree, 'conflicted' should be associated with 'with'
