HARDCOVER, then paperback, (trade or mass market), then ebook, but most of the books I am reading now are ebooks simply because of the ease of access. I'd much rather have a hardcover in my hand than anything else.

Call me old-fashioned but I just cannot resist the smell of a new book. The printed pages promising to take you on a new journey. A journey not everyone will have the opportunity to make. Ebooks just doesn't deliver the same excitement.

I'm a hardcover snob. DON"T break the spine. I don't lend my books to anyone.

I definitely prefer a printed book. I don't have an e book reader. I have, however, been toying with the idea of purchasing one for two reasons - ebooks are cheaper, and they take up less space.

However nothing can beat a real book.

There's just something about having a book in your hands--especially an older book. The pages have that smell, and you can try to imagine who read and held the book before you. Is it possible for a book to have vibes? Now, I read lots of ebooks because they are easy to get, and there is no late fee. It saddens me, though, that maybe my great grandchildren will look on paper books as antique and may never hold a "real" book in their hands.

Swings and roundabouts.
E-book pros: Light and compact, instant delivery, electronic searches, highlighting, don't need glasses to read, can read in bath.
Real book pros: Look great on shelves, reading progress more satisfying when tangible, magnetic bookmarks are awesome, don't need wifi to purchase, easier to get second hand, provide the satisfaction of browsing second-hand bookshops.
Real books have more pros, I realize, but the con is a big one - they are so. damn. heavy.

I prefer to read a paperback while floating on a pool or lake with a drink in one hand, and any “real” book is preferred over an ebook. But when we’re on a road trip and I want to read while it’s dark or if I want to read in bed at night, I download something to my iPad. I’ve listened to a lot of audiobooks while driving my kids to and from school and while working in the garden or around the house.

I prefer ebooks, it's more convenient to read lying down. It's also lightweight.

Ebooks! While I still own paperbacks, I often choose ebooks now. It's really difficult to move when you have a lot of books, some of which have been untouched for years, to box. With ebooks, I find it a bit less frustrating when I need to move or even pack stuff for an outing.

I completely prefer paperback/hardback versus e-reading.

Paper if possible. It has a charm to it, and my eyes don't strain as much.
