I get lost in books all the time. It drives my husband crazy. He'll be carrying on a full conversation next to me and I won't realize it until he puts his hand over my book. :P

I try not too, I usually go around the house before I go to bed to read and turn in for the night and make a list of things I need to do the next day then when I get up the next morning I eat and do things on the list then I have the rest of the day to read

the world of books is the real world for me, the world outside is counterfeit. I drive my wife crazy by reading at inappropriate times. I once got in trouble for reading at a friends wedding reception. she has toyed with the idea of frisking me for books when we go some place.

Most of the time when I'm engrossed in a good book, I become oblivious to reality. Sometimes it's a good thing as it can provide an escape route from a stressful day and other times it can be a bad thing, especially if someone is trying to talk to me and I don't hear a word they say. Understandably, people can get annoyed at that.

People at home know there are boundaries not to be crossed when I'm reading, so I can give to the family what is theirs, and take my portion in a marvelous book. The same applies to work their time is theirs, and my time is strictly mine and detached from all others.

All the time! My emotions become interlinked with the protagonists'. At times, I've to remind myself that I'm not her.

Now that you mention it I do! When I get really into a book I read it all day everyday until I finish it. I wont leave my room until I am done which in turn makes me forget all my responsibilities.

Yes! I get so immersed in a good book, that even my mood changes to reflect that of the characters'. And...then I drive everyone crazy by talking about the book non stop. OOPS.....lol.
I've had to start setting a timer, so I don't forget to stop reading.

Only if the book takes place in a completely different world itself. :)

I really try not to get so caught up in the story in order to not neglect the real world. But it is true, there are some times when you just have to know a little bit more. I think we've all been there. But you get to learn how to control it. Just like a good addiction.

Yep to my chagrin I do. My hubby will be talking to me when I'm halfway across the world with my book, with a character who is in dire peril. As I come to finally and say......" Were you talking to me"? Laughing to myself how into the story I was.
