Smoking/Drinking and reading

Post by Nym182 »

Do you find it difficult to read after drinking and/or smoking? Or does it help with your imagination?
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride!” HST

Drinking, no way. I always like to get a little baked when I'm deep in an audiobook.

Man got to sit and wonder 'why, why, why?'

I can't drink more than a few sips of beer occasionally because of my medications, but when I was younger I would get blasted on cheap wine while writing. I never read while drinking anything but coffee or tea, which continues to this day. I like AdamRedWolf's thoughts about getting baked while listening to audiobooks, but the medications I'm on are not amenable to that either, sadly.

(I don't smoke anymore)

For me, it depends. I found it best to smoke before I read and sometimes during. Then as I'm reading and smoking, I feel as if I witnessed the events that took place. :)
