NATIONAL EMERGENCY

The most recent statistics from the Drinks Industry Group of Ireland show the number of pubs across Ireland have been closing at a rate of more than two a week for more than a decade. The increase in alcohol excise tax did not help. Since 2005, last orders have been called at nearly 1,500 alehouses.

Please help Ireland and the Smugglers Arms.

The same thing happened in Utah. They raised taxes and licence fees so high that bars had to close. About the only places left are private clubs. So we better drink up while we can. Break out the booze!!

I prefer mine without vodka! Cookies won't go amiss, either. 8)

Good grief! This is a pub.

And customers are asking for cocoa and cookies, and tea. Not exactly pub fare.

Harriet Hedgehog is thinking about starting a genteel Tea Shoppe next door.

No cocoa for me. Ill take a vodka with a bit of orange juice. Chocolate will give you pimples and according to an old legend, it makes women pregnant.

Harriet has considered: "Chocolate will give you pimples and according to an old legend, it makes women pregnant."

Harriet is now thinking about opening a genteel Old Chocolate Shoppe, with a skincare sideline. She is also looking at a Mothercare franchise. :!:

Good plan. You could call it Ye Olde Chocolate And Maternity And Skin Care Shoppe. Rolls right off your tongue.
