The words "Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it: why hast thou made me thus" are reminders that God is greater than men, we don't have to question him on anything. All we have to do is to be loyal and obedient. I am really enjoying the book. Thank you for a great read. :tiphat:
I conquer with you, it is a great read.

This book is very interesting..I automatically changed my reading plans when I started the prologue. Mr Douglas childhood was very interesting and it built him into a strong man who survived racism at its highest pick.

Racism and social inequality have always defined and shaped the content of the Caribbean and Black American Literature at the beginning and spilled to the later part of last century. Hence, to predict the cause of the conflict in any literary work from these parts of the world is as sure as predicting the rising and setting of the sun. It is in this light that one can safely assert that the difference between the thematic preoccupation of Douglas' " Defining Moments of a Free Man from a Black Stream" and his North American compatriots like: Leroi Jones, Toni Morrison, Langson Hughes, Ricard Wright etc is six and half a dozen. Douglas's audience however, become hopeful that it is possible to weather through the storms of man made barriers to the zenithal point as exemplified by his ground breaking achievements in politics, academic, carrier etc. One salient issue that should be treasured and reflected on according to Douglas is the fact that there is no buffer zone any where under the sun, either in Guyana, US, not even in John Hopkins Medical Center.
