Who wouldn't crave such a friend??

Post by Daniel Muky »

Last night I told dad I had a friend
But he never believed.
He patted my shoulder and counselled like a wise dad should:
"You don't have to lie my son
For I know you are shy.
You have tried,
And cried over your failure in the past
That you should have learnt to find contentment in loneliness.
Just so because you will never find  a friend."

It's then that I smiled and looked him in the eye.
I said dad you are right.
Right that I will never find a friend
For a friend has found me!
She's not pretty and complex like an Angel I once hoped for.
But plain and simple and easy to understand that I like her so.
She's without judgement.
And can keep a secret.
She keeps me company in a harmony only she can bring.
And she lends a listening ear.
Even when my conversations bring tears.
She never parts with me as long as I need her companionship.
And not in a word
That she ever complains about it.
Ain't it so,the kind of friend everyone would crave that I have?
Oh,
What a friend my diary is?

A few emotional twists and turns in this one! Kept me guessing!

'Am reading more Oscar Wilde. What a tiresome, affected sod' - Noël Coward

Cute poem :) sounds like the character in this piece may grow up to be a writer!

One feels like a duck, splashing around in all this wet. And when one feels like a duck, one is happy!
