First Love is Beautiful and Fatal

Post by nicole-adrianne »

Darkness turns to day
Paint the perfect face
Let contentment play
Resignation reigns

Squinting in sunlight
Laughter splits the sky
Fresh wounds, slices from a knife

Eyes closed, no one but the dark
Sees me, sees you, sees our hearts
I know it’s fantasy when you
Slowly reach for me

I can never quite make out
Your hair, your eyes or your smile
But your heart’s one I’ve known all my life
And now you’re slowly drifting away

Heat, can barely breathe
In the haze I see
Brown eyes, black hair, he
Won’t stop killing me

Sunlight turns to stars
Lifting rough, red scars
Find me, tell me who you are

Eyes closed, no one but the dark
Sees me, sees you, sees our hearts
I know it’s fantasy when you
Slowly reach out for me

I can never quite make out
Your hair, your eyes or your smile
But your heart’s one I’ve known all my life
And now you’re slowly drifting away

Eyes wide open in the light
See you, dancing, smiling bright
It’s not fantasy when you
Slowly reach for me

I’ve already memorized
Your hair, your smile and your eyes
But your heart’s what I’ll cherish for all our lives
You promise, “I won’t walk away.”

One feels like a duck, splashing around in all this wet. And when one feels like a duck, one is happy!
