The Love Not Chosen

Post by ReyvrexQuestor Reyes »

Northward gaze I where shine the blazing lights
While far behind me lie the fields and huts
I scanned my mind now filled with fancy flights
One world goes open as the other shuts
Leave one or take the other, and no buts

The road down south leads to a maiden fair
Of sun-filled days, inherent homely thrills
The trail up north now beckons with a flare
Far too tempting, bedecked with many frills
That dreams and fantasies it sooner fills

But bliss and glory fade with novelty
Lights can grow dim and passion can fade out
As things familiar damp geniality
When joys and tears would cross each other out
And Panacea may not come about

Now, after many years, trek I southward
Along with milestones that I once did pass
I beseech Fate to deal a second card
To put me back on spot where I once was
To choose, this time, life with my waiting lass.
"In the beginning was the word.........John 1:1"
...To delineate the times that lovers miss,
...A thousand dreams can't beat a single kiss.

The entire poem is gorgeous, but this verse is my favourite.
