I read the preview of the book. Such a good collection of heart felt poems. It depicts the author's state of mind in the turbulent times. The choice of words is amazing. Thanks for the review.

I really love poetry and this sounds worth a read. I can imagine how compelling the poems would be, considering the subject matter. I love that the author utilizes prose as well. Thanks for the beautiful review.

Wow. Sounds very deep and moving. These stories-the ones about the influences that shape you as a child-always touch the soul. I'd very much like to read this book.

I am impressed at the ease with which the author tells her story through prose. Though painful and heart wrenching, the flow of words is smooth and not at all forced into rhyme. Bitar gives a personal experience of the Syrian civil war and brings all emotion to the fore in the delicate use of selected words. Brilliant!

To me, these poems are haunting. I have served overseas, though that was long ago. But the images never leave you. I read the book straight through. To any veteran who has served over there, as it was for me, this book will bring back memories and thoughts long buried. That is, in a way, both a good and a not so good thing. I hope the author was able to dispell her own ghosts to some extent in writing the book.

Although a poem is another word for complexity in my opinion, a good poet would always make the pictures of her emotions and experiences to accompany her work. To me, the author of A Loaf Of Bread, Rana Bitar, has succeeded in making me a time traveler of today to the civil war of Syria. She is a good poet !

I am usually not a huge fan of poetry but I have been known to read it every now and again. That being said, I have sampled "Loaf of Bread" by Rita Bitar and some of her poems brought me to tears. Thank you for your review. I commend the author for sharing her heartrendingly emotional experiences from her homeland.

I'm not a drama or poetry fanatic, but I'll give this book a try. One thing I like about this book, as mentioned in the review, is that it conveys events with emotions attached to it. Sounds intriguing. Thank you for your insightful review.

A heartfelt read as this sounds very relatable, but I don't have a deep interest for poetry.
