Sounds like a good collection of poems, in which the author is presenting his own meditations on different aspects of the human condition that we all tend to contemplate late at night. I enjoyed reading your review, and am looking forward to trying out this book.

I am not a fan of poetry (of any form) however, I am glad you found joy in going through this collection of poems. Thanks for the review.

I tend to engage in midnight musings myself. Mr. Lang seems to be a good companion for those restless hours. He will either wake me up to full attention, or lull me to a restful slumber. Either is good at the proper moment. Poetry speaks eloquently but differently to all.

Very well said, Miriam. You encapsulated his writings quite adroitly. :tiphat:

Now I know what to do next time I can't sleep - read this, and perhaps also write some poetry. I love rhyming poetry and sonnets. Sometimes I find free verse confusing but based on your review, perhaps Lang did this well!

I am quite elated to find poetry in the rhyming fashion. Forgive my impassioned notion that poetry should be rhymed for its own sake --- poetry in another form would seem just prose or really prose --- for poetic license nowadays seems to include not writing poetically. And that might stir some debate, depending on perspectives, which I never intend to instigate. I love rhymed poems and have even written some of my own sonnets. Although I might add, I am not an insomniac, having done my own musings at midnight. Thanks for this interesting review.

Very nice points that you brought into the discussion! It is good to know that there are others who enjoy the traditional aspects of poetical writing as well. :tiphat:

I would love to lay my eyes on this book; the title resonates strongly with me. I'm equally a night owl, and I imagine learning a lot from a fellow midnight muser. I also deeply respect a poet who can convey thought-provoking reasonings with the confined structure of rhymes. I'm quite eager to explore Mr Lang's writing style. Thanks for the excellent review.

That seems like an intriguing way to organize a pretty book. I'd like to compare a piece from each section. It is a shame about the formatting. I've been in situations where I continually have to adjust the zoom or other settings and that is simply not the way to enjoy a work. At least it was poetry and not prose, so there was, in a way, space for those adjustments between the different pieces.
