Latest Review: "The 11.05 Murders" by Brian O'Hare

Post by Tpop »

I am really impressed by the books author, Alice Langholt. I initially wrote that I had read the first 10 or so pages and was a little put off by the religious themes. She reached back out to me directly to help clarify that, although it was a 'biblical fiction', it told a story of humanity, connection, longing, love, grief, and parenting. Topics that anyone could relate to. She is obviously passionate about this book and holds it closely to her heart. I am going to keep reading it and I urge others to do the same. I cannot resist an author that cares enough to personally talk to her audience. I cannot express the amount of respect I have for her.

Amazing review! Makes me even more excited to read. I've read the book of Genesis more than I can count. It'll be interesting to get a whole new perspective... Love the concept of this book and I'm excited to feel what the characters feel and see what they see.

All I can say to this book. It was amazing! Really cool! It was like reading a bible verse in the book of Genesis. I really like this book and highly recommend this book specially to those who have not yet read a bible. Rating for this is 4 out 4!

A new point of view on the Adam and Eve family. Unusual historical fantasy for those, who love biblical themes.

Free re-imagined story of the real first family. I'll be anxious to read each "character's thoughts & reactions" to the Biblical events that are so familiar. Thanks for an insightful review!

This review did a really good job addressing the major qualms a reader might have on first hearing about the book's content. Both religious and secular readers could have their own questions, and the reviewer thoroughly explained what to expect. The review also did a great job explaining the book's appeal - having read the preview, I felt like I had basically gotten the gist, and would be content not reading more. However, the reviewer's explanation of what was so compelling about Cain and Abel's story definitely passed the bug on to me.

I wouldn't have pegged this as a Bible retelling from the cover. Also, kudos on the review because it's so compelling that I'm definitely reading the book soon.
