It's good to know that the sentences were simple and easy to read. I also like the fact that the reader could meet many characters as they do what they usually do. Nice review.

I do not usually read historical fiction, but I am glad that you liked reading the book overall, despite the editing errors. Congrats to the author on the 3/4 rating.

Of course, a good many of those errors could be considered advantages in a first person story. Roger Otto sounds like a foreigner. However, the improper phrases or use of certain words works best in a story featuring the blending of two or more cultures. I’m not sure how much of a theme that would be in this book. Much of its story makes me think of it as a war story. And well developed characters a sign of greatness!

I love historical fiction, but the Marine life is not quite the theme that will suit my preferences. I'm sure that fans of US Navy and sea life would enjoy Roger Otto's adventure along with the USS Reeves' crew. Strong characters with "their own distinct look, personality, and background" is definitely a plus. Thank you for this lovely recommendation! I'm glad you enjoy the book.

Based on the review I don't think that this is something that I would enjoy reading. I am not a fan of historical fiction. I also don't have an interest in reading about geography, life at sea, or the US Navy. I will pass on reading this book.

It sounds like an interesting tale for lovers of historical fiction. Even though it is not a genre I enjoy, I had to laugh at the example you gave of the author's humor. If this type of humor appears throughout the book, I find it likely that readers will be able to overlook the errors. I greatly enjoyed reading your well-written review!

Gonzo Station, sounds intriguing. Now I know, there is no bad story just your perception. Nice review.

Good review! Looks like, this is a historical novel with strong characterization. The author used simple and easy to understand words. However, grammar mistakes need proper editing. I recommend this novel to all readers because of its historical facts on the US navy.

'Official Review: Gonzo Station by Fernando Ochoa' focuses on the important details of the story. The theme of learning about life through sea voyage is well mentioned in the review. The readers will enjoy the book after reading about the character description of the story!

Thank you for sharing your review with us. I am having trouble deciding whether I want to read this book. The Amazon sample was faulty. The concept of world travel adventures is appealing, by the historical aspect sounds slightly boring and I’m concerned that the naval terms might be too technical...

Although I'd like the historical information, I wouldn't have the patience to read all the descriptions of Navy protocols or navy tasks and routines. Thanks for a great review, though.

"Gonzo Station" is historical fiction by Fernando Ochoa with a very interesting storyline about the adventures of a young Naval officer while manning ships at sea. Congratulations on BOTD!!

Historical fiction with military action and marine life. Sounds absolutely fantastic. I loved the writing style of the author as well.
