From the title I couldn't imagine Atonement to a Greater God [\i]to be historical fiction. The review has just highlighted my favorite aspects in a book. Tragic endings are but the icing on the cake.

These characters must have been very foolish. Now that I have read your review I really do not want to finish the book. I am already sad by 'Looney Louie' death, now two more deaths! I can't continue. Great review though.
But the path I’ve chosen has always been the right one, and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. :)

I love historical fiction and this novel seems to have all the ingredients for a gripping read: twists and turns of the plot, strong characters, and a variety of themes, from the consequences of a murder to romance and shamanism. Thanks for your review!

What a wonderful way of hiding ones crimes and from the law. But how long will it work? This is quite a Cachy crime storyline. The review is very detailed and excellent. Thank you.

I couldn't really read the book because I didn't get any summary of the book. I guess this book has to deal with the atonement to a greater God as implied by the title given to the book by the author, Dan Martin.
I really need to appreciate the book more if only it could be summarize a bit for me to read.

I got a copy yesterday and faced the same thing you described, I could not leave the book even though I merely wanted to sample it. Thanks for the awesome review!

I’m OK with sad endings, and the parts about Native American indigenous folk and their cultures has got me interested. I don’t usually like stuff to do with crime and the military, but I’m willing to give this one a chance.

I love historical fiction, and to find such a novel that covers a time period, events in that time, and a geographical setting that I don't feel has been overdone is refreshing. Whenever the protagonist starts off doing such morally questionable--if not reprehensible--things, you know it's going to be a book full of complex character development. Thank you for the helpful review.
