Wonderful review with the perfect amount of information to decide on whether I’d read it or not. I like that the author uses context clues to expand the children’s vocabulary.

Your points about how the book can help children cope is great. Divorce and death aren’t easy for adults to grasp and even less so for children. This sounds like a great tool for parents to use with younger children and older to read on their own. I liked that you included age specific ranges because while reading the first few pages of this I was trying to determine that. I agree with your assessment. Great job on this and for a deeper look into it.

I haven't grown up yet, so this 100% sounds like my kind of book. The dealing with death is sad, but I love exploring magical worlds with talking animals, and gonks sound like an interesting creature to learn about. Thanks for the introduction!

Book Review: The Adventures of Oscar and the Lounge Lizard

The book is written by Julia Mary Clark. The book talks about a boy aged 8 years of age (Oscar) who has a difficult time coping with the loss of his grand Pa Grump as well as the divorce of his parents.

The boy meets a talking Lizard 'Larry' who helps him with his situation. Larry takes Oscar to an adventure at his home in Tarastaria where there are interesting creatures such as monkeys & gonks which distracts him from his problem thus having a positive change on Oscar.

The book is interesting in a way that cultivates kids of young age and has the capability of relievers them of worldly stress.

The title doesn't seem particularly appropriate for children, a lounge lizard? But the sample combined with your review makes me think that's the only problem I'd have with it. You make it sound like a really good choice in that it deals with hard issues (wonder why THAT word came to mind? :-) ) in an entertaining way, and is well-written too. Nice.

This is a magical adventure containing death, divorce and loss of relationship. Thats why this book is helpful for the guidance of children in the case if they lose one of the parents at an ealy age.

I loved the glimpse of this book the reviewer shared with us. I'll definitely loved to read it. It reminds me of the stories I read when I was a kid.

First of all, I love the cover. Second, I don't think there are enough books that discuss grief and hardships with children that children can fully relate too. This sounds like a wonderful read! Congrats on the book of the day! Great review.
