Ten-year-old author Bonita Treasure Murungi Arinaitwe introduces the reader to princess Noella and her father, King Japheth as she is venturing off to have a look at some artefacts in Friends. Our protagonist is a friendly little girl in this adventurous children’s book. As the story continues, princess Noella finds a lovely, lifelong friend named Misty. The girls soon find out that they have a lot more in common than they first thought. The reader follows princess Noella and Misty as they attend school, grow into young women and fall in love.

Princess Noella and Misty are strong and intelligent young girls. They inspire all the children around them to be more friendly and kind to one another. This is an excellent lesson for young children to learn through a fun and colorful story. Children between the ages of seven and ten would enjoy the girls and their story. It is a short and simple story that would be easy for this age group to understand. Many children between the ages of seven and ten face bullying so the girls’ experiences in school in this story would be very beneficial. Children would identify with the girls‘ curiosity and adventurous personalities. Young readers will be excited to follow princess Noella and Misty’s story through to the end.

This book closes with comperhention questions and a vocabulary review. These helpful features will encourage a conversation that will ensure the conveyance of the themes and lessons in this story. Parents and teachers will most likely appreciate these features as they read to or with children. There are very few grammatical errors throughout the text. There are missing and misplaced periods and commas as well as misaligned text and numbering.

Illustrations are a vital part of any children’s book. Most of the illustrations are colorful and engaging. There are a few illustrations that are confusing and unidentifiable. The pictures in this book help to create a vivid visual.

I give this book three out of four stars. The strength, grace, and determination of princess Noella and Misty will inspire young girls to be kind and friendly to other children. There are a few plot holes, but the story quickly recovers. The story follows two girls in an adventurous journey to adulthood. The writing from this 10-year-old author is impressive and inspiring.

The story is fun and entertaining with interesting characters. Reading Friends will help parents and teachers start a conversation with young children about the importance of friendship and determination.

I love the questions and vocabulary review utilized in this. The two girls sounds wonderful and what little girl doesn't love a good princess story? Thanks for the review.
