Children are remarkably amazing, creative, and adventurous, and it may surprise you to know of the so many things they do and experiment on while in school. Unfortunately, the busyness of life and heavy responsibilities sometimes impact the time parents spend with their children. This situation not only affects the parent-child bonding but also costs them the opportunity to share and listen to the exciting wonders of each day in school. So, I was spellbound when I started reading What did you do at school today? by C.C. Lacavera. I wasn't prepared for the vast opportunities and resources it offers for parents to have a fun conversation with their children on how their days in school went!

What impressed me the most is the book's presentation. Lacavera did a great job providing fertile grounds upon which great conversations can spring up. This is mainly achieved through the short, open-ended questions. These questions are far-reaching, covering as many things that our children could involve themselves in school as possible. This ranges from questions on what they learned in school to the activities they involved themselves in. By so doing, the book makes things easier for parents who may have difficulties striking great conversations with their children or who may not have an idea of what their children spent their day in school doing.

The book is a wholesome exploration of a child's life. From questions bordering on their cognition, like what they did with their ears, eyes, and nose, to those on their personal dispositions (like whether they were kind to themselves enough to have some gleeful giggle), class activities, interpersonal relationships, and outdoor activities. I enjoyed reading all of them. The rhymes were impressive, my favorite being the ones on the questions about hide and seek, tag, bat, and catch. The illustrations were very bright and correctly reflected each question and activity. I found the word choices very simple and engaging. Furthermore, the book was thoroughly proofread, and I didn't find any grammatical or typographical error in it. 

I have no complaint to report about this book. What did you do at school today? by C.C. Lacavera earns five out of five stars for the interactive resources, the colorful illustrations, and the impressive presentation. I recommend this book to every child. It's a great material for parents and children to spend their evenings together.
