The Great Gilly Hopkins

Post by readingdiva3 »

the great gilly hopkins-Katherine Paterson- This would be a great book for elementary students to read. Even though it has been around for awhile, this book is about a foster child who gets moved around a lot.I think many children could relate to this story. I am an elementary teacher and I know there are many, many children in foster care. I did enjoy this book.

I read this as a child and found quite liked it. To me it went to show that there is good in every child and in the right situation it can be brought out in them.

This is a great book. Did you know that it is coming out as a new movie? With Kathy Bates and Glenn Close?

I loved this book as a kid. My sixth grade teacher read it to us and he did the best voices. It was very entertaining!
