While some find it easy to make new friends, many often find it difficult. Breaking the ice and getting familiar with a stranger becomes a daunting task. This is true of children as well. Nina and I by Julie Costa Langley relates Lisa's dilemma.

Nina is Lisa's classmate. She appears introverted and quiet. Lisa, on the other hand, is extroverted and desires Nina's friendship. She sought ways to arrest Nina's attention, all to no avail. Nina would keep to herself and enjoy her favorite pastime in solitude. Lisa kept trying to get familiar with her. However, it seemed that daunting misunderstandings stood in the way of their friendship.

Nina and I is a well-developed children's book. Although it is only 45 pages long, the story is engaging and interesting. Its narrative and grammar are simple and easy to understand. The story highlights why Nina felt out of place and consequently kept to herself. The story can help kids understand the behavior of their peers and how they can be of help to them.

My favorite feature of this book is the expressive and colorful pictures of Nina and Lisa. These illustrations made by Valerie Bouthyette were expertly made. They brought the story to life. Children will have a good time reading this book.

I also love the vital morals in the story. Lisa's friendliness is worthy of emulation. I love how she repeatedly made efforts to get acquainted with Nina. Kids can learn to imitate Lisa by being expressive and actively doing good things for others.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. It was exceptionally well edited. I have no dislikes about it. The grammar and style of writing are simple. Kids between the ages of 4 to 9 years will find the pictures engaging and the book interesting.

Introversion borne out of shyness is a malaise which many people have to overcome while growing up. Reading such books as this does help to overcome the challenges of shyness. To one who is introverted having extroverted and understanding friends do go a long way in overcoming that shortcoming of shyness. I agree it would be.a good book for children who find it difficult coming out of their shelves.

I agree! Learning how to get to know others and find common ground with them is a tool that children and adults should have and use. I enjoyed your review.

We are bound to meet people who behave differently from us. Lisa and Nina are of different characteristics but yet become friends. This is a nice review too.
