Official Review: The Blessing angel by Ann Larual
The Blessing Angel by Ann Larual is a children’s book about a boy’s fears and his guardian angel who protects him. The writer makes the story fun and enjoyable for children by using hand-drawn sketches in the text.
The book is about a young boy living in a small, quiet town. The boy is named Tommy, and he is scared of monsters coming to attack him in bed. So, he hates bedtime more than he hates school. His mother tries to calm him down so that he can fall asleep. However, he is not persuaded, as he believes that the monsters will come back later in the night making the most horrible and terrifying noises.
I enjoyed some elements in the book. To begin with, the storyline was simple and logically structured, creating a sense of coherence and harmony in the text. What I liked most about this book was that it was full of many colorful and bright drawings, which made it more interesting and enjoyable to read.
Nonetheless, there were also a couple of negative features in the story. For one, I found a plethora of grammatical, typographical, and punctuation errors, which undermined the writer’s status, giving me the impression that the book was not professionally edited. What I disliked most about the text was that it was highly clichéd since the author did not use her imagination sufficiently to create an original and creative story.
This book will be mostly enjoyed by young readers who like bedtime stories. Children who are scared of night monsters may easily relate to the main character of the book. Christian readers are more suited to read this book because there are references to Jesus and Christian principles in the story.
Conclusively, this book deserves a rating of 2 out of 4. I did not give it a higher score due to its poor editing and its clichéd nature. I could not give it the lowest possible rating because it was well organized and interesting to read.
