The premise of this young fantasy book sounds delightful, and so do the characters. From the sample I read, it’s very fast-paced but in my opinion it does too much telling and not enough showing, and the chapters are so short, it reads almost like a novel outline than an actual novel.

Congratulations on getting BOTD again. I have this one already in my library to read. I like fantasy stories. And would like to know what happened to other kids and if his twin survived too. So will one day get to reading this one.

This sounds like such a unique story. I don't think I've read anything with a similar type of parallel world. I love fantasy so I'll definitely have to put this on my to:read list!

I agree with you on your point that this book would be appreciated by those who liked Harry Potter. I read the sample and got that vibe, too. I'll admit that, while I found the bit that I read interesting, I didn't get that I-really-wanna-read-this-book feeling. However, your saying about the narrator, "He is not just reading the book aloud..." has me thinking that maybe I would like it better in audio form. Great review.

I am currently reading The Crystilleries of Echoland. This is a new genre for me and my first time joining the book of the month discussion. I completely agree that it is fast-paced and have started taking notes on the characters to fully follow the story line. It definitely appeals to Harry Potter fans as well as Percy Jackson fans.

Your review has made me interested in this story. I love when narration is good and it is a fast paced read. I am curious to Will's wolf and falcon helped him home and if his sistet will be found.

I am a fan of action and mystery stories. Knowing that this one comes with an audio book too, makes it a perfect choice for me.

The author has created a beautiful fantasy world that is parallel to ours. But the idea of a world that is different from ours, gives the author a margin to play around and creat a world that is suited to those sublime beings. This way the reader can put in perspective the way of life we are living. How blessed we are in certain ways and how can we correct ourselves in light of happenings in echoland.
All in all the crystallries of Echoland is a good read
