I got really excited to read this book when I was reading your summary because it sounds awesome. It's too bad the writing doesn't live up to the cool-sounding plot.

Adults might enjoy it but I know that teenagers and children probably won't. It just needs to be marketed to another audience.

Thanks for reading! :D

It seems to me that maybe a change of genre may help the popularity of the book. I'm feeling a little adventurous so I'm going to give it a chance. I like the premise of the Grandmother's of the Four Directions. Being of Indigenous Heritage myself, it is a subject that I can relate to. I found it interesting that the Wisdom imparted by each Direction actually corresponds with the teachings I have received.

I'm looking forward to reading Fairy Godmothers of The Four Directions. I may even enjoy some of the sideways tangents Jennifer Morse takes...lol

Sounds like an ok book.
Everyone is putting their spin on classic fairytales these days so I may forgive the lack of originality.

I love this book. It tells of the influence of the past on a personality who seeks self actualization. The fairy godmothers are also what I love there. The East fairy giving her a fresh start (like the sun rising on a fresh day from the East), the West fairy helping her resolve many unresolved mysteries(like the sun setting in the west with answers to many questions), the North fairy giving her strength and the South nurturing her spirit. All these can be interpreted as allegory as ideas which we have to find out are being personified.

This sounds like a unique and wonderful concept for a book! The cover art is beautiful. I don't think I would mind lengthy, maybe unnecessary breaks, given the storyline.
Thanks for the review!
