Being from Bengal, I definitely understand the situation of education and students in that region. The story looks promising. I would definitely read this book.

that is an extensive review. I wonder if the story is set in present day Bengal or during the 60s or 70s?

From the tone of your review, I gather that the book is all serious. Are there any lighter moments?

Well, there are some lighter moments. Though the story deals with a serious issue, the conversations happen in the young adult style, thus giving the youth feeling overall.

The review was really nice. The replies also suggest topics for writing, like politics shaping/influencing the teaching system, and also giving an impression that the students are not getting their legitimate due, and also impacting their behavior and personality (the effects of which perhaps might be unsatisfactory to a great many). I think this also is a serious question bothering every one of us, that makes us feel uneasy. The review dose sound like the original book must be worth reading.
