Whoa. The cover and the content do not seem to match at all. It sounds like an interesting take on the subject matter, but I'm not sure I could stomach what happens to the main character. Something about these specific nuns gives me flashbacks unhappy times.

What a great review! I too just reviewed a book that was excellent, but I fear the title and the cover will hinder its sales. This sounds like a unique subject that was handled really well. I'll have to add it to my bookshelves!

I can see why the title would be misleading and I probably would have avoided this book myself! Thank you so your review in clarifying what this book is actually about. The part in your review about how sex and pregnancy are looked upon got me. Even nearly 50 years later, it is still a problem today and it shouldn't be. While we have come far in gender discrimination in regard to sexual encounters, we still have a long way to go.

The 60s must have been really a dark time for young ladies. I can't imagine being disowned by my own parents. In my country it's heard of, but you need to experience it to understand. This is a good review.
But the path I’ve chosen has always been the right one, and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. :)

Absolutely! Even in today's generation in many parts of the world society always points out faults in a woman. Even if a woman gets raped, society starts blaming that woman instead of those men who rapes. Why it has to be always woman who are looked down upon. Society can change in this matter when all women will realise that how necessary it is to support other women and to be each other's support. Also thank you for the review, really powerful and well written.

Catchy title, never judge a book by it cover. Imagine the pains the girls went through in loxley house termed ruined goods. Luckily new friendship bonds which spans over decades are forged.
Lovely review.

I agree with you on the title; At first, I was skeptical, but was surprised at the content through your review. It really hurts giving your child up for adoption. I would love to read this book. Thanks for this great review.

Wonderful review of " Lust by Lola Blake", at first I thought it has a lot of sexual content by seeing its title. Teenage pregnancy is common but very few people care to talk about it, just like Linda's story.

Thanks for the review. I admit, I wasn't going to consider reading this book as the title was a bit misleading. Thanks for the clarification
