Great review and I also read the sample. It really pulls you into John's life and trying to find out where he fits in. His brother is great with trying to help him and keep his parents from finding out because of how strict they are about anything not considered normal. Of course what is normal anyways. Seems to be a really good book. Would love to make time to read it.

The central issue of this book seems interesting. It is relevant to discuss such issues and I haven't read of this premise in the YA genre.

Excellent review! When I read the book, Im sure the minuscule errors such as the grammar mistakes will mess me up a bit and the fact that it goes against the traditional ' strangers hate the new you' cliche might be new but not work well but I still hope it is a good read for me.

A interesting novel that brings out issues on transgender out in the open. Great review.

A most interesting YA novel that brings out the issues on transgender out from the closet. Great review.

I've never read a transgender or transition story, but after this glowing endorsement, I'll have to check out this book.

I'm not sure this book is the right fit for me, but it might help people facing these issues directly.

This is definitely a controversial book, but I think anything that helps us to see the humanity in people, most especially when they are outside what is considered outside the norm is a good thing. I am sure there are many young people who will find this a bit of a help.

The awkwardness so many feel as they go from middle school to high school is great, but I can’t imagine what that may be like for someone who is struggling with things that seem even more out of the norm. Sounds like this book may give a better idea to those who have not been in those shoes. I can understand your encouragement to read the book.

Thank you for the review, I think that it's wonderful that the author tackled this subject. Bullying is bad enough, but to have to deal with that on top of all of the conflicting feelings and emotions going through your mind and body would be horrific. Great review!

This book sounds wonderful and crucial to people's understanding of this situation. I know that I don't understand the experience nearly a fraction of what I would like to, so this book should help with my empathy for people going through this complicated and emotionally-taxing transition. Thank you for the thorough and insightful review.

I read the first part of the book and I did not really care for it. As I read the above review, it dawned on me that the subjects of transgender hit too close to home.

I think that transgender is a hard topic to take on.

I'm not sure if I'll finish the book

I've only read the preview on Amazon and the review here, so far, and am impressed by the sensitivity in the writing and portrayal of the subject and the characters. As a former teacher, I encountered a number of students going through their own 'questioning' period, and for most it was more than distressing. I am definitely interested in reading the rest of this book.
