Great, thorough review!
Thanks for dropping by. Yes, Gloria may not be for everyone.

I do love books about quantum physics, and The Secret was one of my first spiritual reads, but somehow I don't think I will want to read this book. The grammatical errors alone would keep me from it. A beautiful review, however, as usual, despite the rating.

I was interested until I read the part of your review on how Gloria's father has influence and wealth and uses it to her advantage. It makes me feel like she has no depth when it comes to times of personal struggle because she has that crutch. It doesn't allow for growth of her character, and it certainly doesn't make her relatable to the average young adult.

That was a major disappointment for me as well.

Thanks for visiting!

While reading the Gloria's character it reminds about me sometimes, being very responsive and nerd in high schools, capability of advising to same age group, not interested or exactly to say no time to get into relationship... All these matches with me.. But yet the ideology of indulging in social activities are appreciable.. Well written to give the audience outerscope of book.

The author certainly has high ideals. While the kidnapping changed her perspective, much of what she has done is achieved with her parents' financial support. I really enjoyed your reactions and opinions about this book. Thanks.

Thanks for the encouragement. Yes, it helps to be rich. Donations are tax-deductible, too!

About those extended discussions, we did a lot of that in my family. Then my kids grew up and got involved in that sort of thing, and now my grandkids are learning the habit. Are you saying most families don't? That I and mine just talk too much? :D

Wow, you must be really close! I wish more families would "communicate" in such a manner. With the present preoccupation with gadgets, people rarely talk face-to-face anymore. Facebook, etc. to blame?

Isn't it even a stereotype that family gatherings involve long political discussions, philosophy, advice, and such? It's always been a joke that you can't start talking politics when certain family members get together because it will go on all night.
Yes, my family's like that and I love it.

And about the dad and his money, books usually have the protagonist on the outs with anyone who can help but really... If your kids needed something - needed, not just wanted - wouldn't you do everything you could and give everything you have and are to help them? Sometimes that may be to let them flounder and learn to do what they need to do, but if they can't? I would. I do. And they do the same back and for each other.
