I don't usually listen to music when I am writing because music tends to distract me from my writing because I am a very easily distracted person. If music is playing while I am writing, I tend to switch off the music or turn the volume near inaudible.

Always. And my music has to be very loud, it keeps me awake so I'm able to write for longer.

I listen to piano music when actually writing, but when thinking of ideas I'll listen to some indie songs. Sometimes I'll hear a specific word or phrase that will spark a string of thoughts that I can use.
You can't get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me.

I can't listen to anything with actual lyrics. Basically anything with the piano puts me in a good writing mood.

Music was always a distraction for me. And this will propably sound strange, but I actually prefer writing in crowed places where there is a lot of background noise such as traffic, people talking, etc.

No, it tends to influence the tone of my writing way too much.

Most of the time I write in silence, but at times I feel more "in the zone" for a character when I listen to what music I think would be their favorite.

As much as I would love to say I do, I don't. It would just distract me! It truly puzzles me how people remain focused on writing when they have music as a distraction.

Yes. I listen to Ed Harrison, Neotokyo. Very nice upbeat with a lot of variety. Techno/futuristic. If you like Animusic you might like edharrison. It is not classical or instrumental but it is not dubstep which is horrible to listen to

I don't.
It gets me distracted and I can't focus on what I am doing. There is a time for everythig, you know.

I like the room to be quiet while I'm writing. If there is any background noise, I become distracted and cannot finish whatever it is I'm writing.

All the time! It doesn't even matter what kind of music, I can sing and write at the same time.

Usually there's a tv on, but I don't think any one can stop me when I have a good idea.

I usually listen to instrumental music when I'm writing. Often playlists from 8tracks really get me motivated to write!
