The book title is definitely eye-catching. However, this isn't my kind of book, especially as it has offensive themes. Nice review though.

This is quite an insightful review. It helped me learn that this is not a horror story but something more.

Interesting read! In the mind of a child, who lives with ghosts. From what I read so far, I enjoyed. :) Thanks!

Thank you for your review :) I like the fact that the author still manages to make the story intriguing even though it is told from such a young perspective in parts of it. I'm looking forward to reading about the trials the author went through and how he dealt with them.

Thank you for the review. Undoubtedly, this one sounds like a particular and compelling memoir about a child's coming-of-age/survival story around mental illness and familial abuse. I'm not sure about the supernatural aspect, but I do not usually read this kind of book anyway.

Nice to know that the author captured the boy's thoughts well. And the ghostly encounters sound interesting. Great review.

John had a disturbing childhood. He grew up in a dysfunctional and poor family situation with abuse and neglect. It is amazing that the author can now share these memories of his childhood and sprinkle it with some humor.

I think this book looks more scarier than the review describes it. Whatever, I think as an almost-an-adult is exiting thing to remember how is to be a kid under scary situations where we need to be heard. I would read it!

As a book of the day novel, I read the sample before I read your review and I wish I wouldn't have done that. I thought the first few pages were very difficult to read so I immediately stopped and came to your review. After reading your take and thoughts on the book, I could easily go back, re read, and enjoy this story. At first I found it very difficult to read, but after seeing the review and understanding the perspective that the book is being written from, I enjoyed the book much more. I am interest to see how the book continues on and how John reacts to his surroundings.

John being haunted is not the main theme of this book, this book is about John’s childhood and his experiences with life which includes his ghostly encounters.
I don't really like ghost stories, but this sentence from your review kinda change it.

Also, as adults, I think it's useful to read from children's perspective from time to time so that we know how children nowadays think, what's their problems, etc.

Thanks for your review!

I'd like to find out John's life experience with ghosts and other challenges. I haven't encountered a ghost before. This sounds intriguing.

Sounds like a great read and I'm glad you enjoyed it. I am especially interested in the paranormal element because I love the notion of a chilling story, though it is good you didn't find it too scary! I am curious to learn more, as it appears there are also very emotional aspects to it, if it was so powerful that it almost moved you to tears. Thanks for the review!
