As much as I hate the mere idea, I was disappointed by Isabel Allende. I devoured all of her books, then "In the midst of winter" happened. For the first time ever, it took me an eternity to finish one of her books. It was a sad day :(

Harry Potter series by JK Rowling is my absolute love since childhood. But Cormoran Strike novels (as Robert Gallbraith) simply did not strike a chord with me. Does that count?
P.S. that does not mean I won't gobble up every Cormoran Strike book!

My favourite author has never disappointed me, especially on the thrillers. Each one of John Grisham books excites me more

Rick Riordan. The Burning Maze. After all this time, after everything we've been through, NOW? You let me down now? It's been ten years. He was my friend, Rick. I've known him for three years. He'd done his part. His story was over. And now he's dead. :crying-blue: :crying-green: And you couldn't just have killed him, either. You had to hit him from half a dozen different directions all at once. I hate you now.
I have yet to see if there's going to be any redemption in the future.

I believe this is an over reaction. First to be honest Jason was never really that interesting at least not in my opinion. Now if you are good at reading predictive hints between lines of books you would already suspect there is more to this he has yet to reveal. He has already been hinting heavily about there being other ways to resurrect aside from the physicians cure. He has hinted at something with Piper who is going home to her tribe. That opens up another mythology or religion in which a solution could be found. There’s always Nico. I mean I know it’s like he’s never resurrected anyone before. (Note my eyes are rolling right now) the Jason story isn’t finished yet so calm your boobies and wait.

Yes, but I still feel sad about it.
My favorite author is Margaret Atwood. I read her book Life Before Man a few months back...I had to push myself to keep reading and only did so because I love the author. But I hated the book. The characters are unlikable and dry. Something about the relationships pulled at me in a bad way and I wasn't interested to keep reading.

Oh yes. Some of the most recent books by Anne Tyler have been very disappointing to me. But the strength of her early works keeps her on my top five favorites list.

Sidney Sheldon did. He is my favorite author but some of his books have kind of the same plotline and it disappointed me a lot. i have read all of his books except one and somedays I feel like I don't need to read the last one because i know how the plot will go.

This is kind of silly. But Stephen King is my favorite author. I've been reading his books for twenty years. Some of his books I didn't love but that was fine. And even his work with his kids is really cool. But two years ago, I had just reread the Dark Tower books again. They had helped me get through a bit of a rough time with a problem I was facing. Silly as that sounds. But I wanted to write Mr. King a letter. Just to let him know I was a long time fan, and that his works mattered. Turns out he doesn't like or answer most fan mail. I was really let down even though I had never considered he would want to hear from me before. Still bothers me sometimes. His works have remained relevant to me my whole life. I've read almost all of his 75 ish books. I have two full bookshelves devoted to just his stories. It is a bit selfish of me I know. Still, maybe someday

I read Six of Crow and absolutely loved Leigh Bardugo's writing, then I went and read the Grisha trilogy and didn't enjoy it.

When I was younger, Harry Potter was my favorite series and helped me through some hard times. I grew to love JK Rowling as an author because she had given me this magical gift of Harry Potter. However, she has disappointed me greatly in recent years. Her actions against the LGBTQ community have really shown her true colors. The blatant transphobia she openly admits to is disgusting. I no longer see her as my favorite and I simply refuse to read any new books she releases.

I loved Amelia Hutchins The Fae Chronicles all the way up to the 5th sequel. It was a downward spiral of repetition and "new" characters that were exactly the same really (tall, dark, mascular, damaged with anger and trust issues, super strong, dominant, tattooed), save a few changes in eye and hair colour (MAJOR eye roll).
